The Konohana Bridge ( Japanese 此 花 大橋 , Konohana Ōhashi ) is a four-lane road bridge in Osaka , Japan , which connects the Konohana-ku district with the offshore artificial island Maishima in the port of Osaka.
description
The Konohana Bridge, opened in 1990, is a self- anchored (fake) suspension bridge with only one suspension cable running over the longitudinal axis, which is supported by A-shaped pylons . The hangers attached to the suspension cable are not attached to the outside of the bridge deck, as usual, but to its center line. The hangers are also not arranged vertically, but alternately stretched obliquely forwards and obliquely backwards. The trailers are protected on both sides of the carriageway by crash barriers , which also form the median between the directional carriageways . The roadway girder consists of a hollow box profile with a cantilevered plate.
The suspension bridge itself has a span of 300 m and a length between the anchors of about 540 m. With the access ramps, the structure is around 1700 m long. The deck girder is 26.5 m wide; 17.5 m of this is accounted for by the carriageway and the approx. 3 m wide median and 4.5 m for the sidewalks, including the railings.
