St. Leopold Peace Prize

The St. Leopold Peace Prize is awarded by Klosterneuburg Abbey to contemporary artists whose works deal with humanitarian issues.

The art prize was started on the initiative of Abbot Primate Bernhard Backovsky and was first awarded in 2008. The name of the award is reminiscent of Babenberger and Margrave Leopold III, who was canonized in 1485 . and its promotion of art. The respective theme of the competition combines a religious background with humanitarian commitment. One main prize and two recognition prizes will be awarded and endowed with 12,000 euros. The special prize for photography, which began in 2010, is endowed with 2,000 euros.
