Konrad I (Abbot of Marienstatt)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Konrad was the third abbot of Marienstatt Abbey and successor to Abbot Ulrich, who succeeded the founding Abbot Hermann von Marienstatt for only one year . The exact dates of life are unknown.

It can be assumed that he died in 1227, as it is not known that he abdicated. It is documented that he became prior of the Marienstatt in 1222. In December 1223 he was elected abbot.

During his abatement , the monk community moved from Marienstatt's first location at the Alterklosterhof near Neunkhausen to Nistertal. The move was completed on December 27, 1227. The consecration of the first church at the new location also falls during his term of office. Also in 1227, as abbot, he witnessed the exemption of the monastery in Limburg an der Lahn by Heinrich von Isenburg .
