Contact temperature

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The contact temperature is the temperature at the point where two bodies with different temperatures touch.

  • For bodies made of the same material, it is the mean of the two temperatures.
  • If the two bodies A and B are made of different materials, the contact temperature is determined by the heat penetration coefficient :

With

  • = Contact temperature (in Kelvin or ° C)
  • = Temperature of body A (in Kelvin or ° C)
  • = Temperature of body B (in Kelvin or ° C).
