Counter march (physical punishment)
Counter-march refers to a military corporal punishment that was imposed on ordinary soldiers for more or less serious offenses by war or court martial until the 19th century .
The counter-march was the type of punishment in the Land Army that was imposed on convicts who refused to run the gauntlet . This punishment was also partially used in the Navy . The convict was tied to a bench for this. The entire company then passed the convict and every single soldier had to give him a blow.
