Kontraobaveštajna služba

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kontraobaveštajna služba ( Serbian - Cyrillic Контраобавештајна служба , German Service for Counter-Enlightenment), short- KOS , was the 1946 from the Odjeljenje za zaštitu naroda emerged (OZN) military intelligence of the Yugoslav People's Army .

The KOS represented the military counterpart to the civilian secret service Uprava državne bezbednosti (UDB). Most of the service's activities are still classified as military secrets and are therefore not accessible.

Yugoslav Wars

The role of KOS in the disintegration of Yugoslavia and the Yugoslav wars can, however, be roughly understood from the public reporting (see Operation Labrador and Operation Opera ). Among other things, this Yugoslav secret service committed explosive attacks on the graves of Jewish personalities in the Mirogoj cemetery in the Croatian capital Zagreb . The aim was to present a fascist Croatia to the world public (see web links).
