Copy Powstania Warszawskiego
The copy Powstania Warszawskiego ( German : "Hill of the Warsaw Uprising ") is a heaped mound of earth in Warsaw , which with a monument on the summit commemorates the Warsaw uprising of 1944 against the German occupation forces.
Copy Powstania Warszawskiego is located on the southern side of Bartycka Street in the Czerniaków district in the Mokotów district of Warsaw . On earlier maps, the hill was named after the district as a copy of Czerniakowski . According to a resolution of the Warsaw City Council on March 24, 2004, it has since been called Copy Powstania Warszawskiego .
In 1944, a mound of earth was raised at this point with rubble from the numerous ruins of the destroyed Warsaw . After that, the hill had been forgotten and neglected for several years until, in 2004, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, the top of the hill was cleaned up and a staircase was built to allow easier access from Bartycka Street .
From the top of the hill there is a panoramic view of Warsaw. A monument several meters high is installed on the level. The shape on the base represents the Kotwica ( also called Znak Polski Walczącej in Polish , in German: "Sign of the fighting Poland") and is a symbol of the Polish underground state . It was designed by the architect Eugeniusz Ajewski ( pseudonym : Kotwa ), a colonel in the former Polish Home Army ( Armia Krajowa , AK for short). There are two commemorative plaques on both sides of the monument. The first panel is dedicated to the residents of Warsaw and the fallen soldiers of the AK from 1939 to 1940. The second panel commemorates the creator of the monument.

curiosity
In August 2008, despite an honor guard, a generator was stolen from the hill, which was used to illuminate the Kotwica . Since August 1, 2009, the stairs and the top of the hill have been illuminated again, which makes it easier to access after dark.
