history

In 1998, the editor Julian von Heyl foundedkorkturen.de as one of the first online editing services. Right from the start, in addition to the actual correction service, there was an information offer on the new German spelling that was just introduced at the time, and a topic-related forum. The website gained greater popularity through the Popular Errors section , a collection of frequently made spelling errors that formed the basis for two books published by Dudenverlag in 2006 and 2011 (see literature ).

In addition to the forum and the popular errors , the most frequently accessed content is currently a comparative word list that documents the spelling changes in the wake of the spelling reform, a tool for etymologically correct word separation and an inflection database, which was taken from the university project Morphy by Dr. Wolfgang Lezius was further developed. The korkturen.de spell check was chosen by CHIP Online to the 2nd place among three candidates.
