Werner Scholze-Stubenrecht

Werner Scholze-Stubenrecht (born August 30, 1948 - November 11, 2016 ) was editor-in-chief of Dudens .

Career

Scholze-Stubenrecht did his Abitur at the Frankfurt Helmholtz-Gymnasium . He then studied German and English in Frankfurt am Main . In 1975 he became an employee of the Bibliographical Institute in Mannheim . In addition to his work as Duden editor-in-chief, the doctor of linguistics also appeared as a spelling expert on the radio or in programs such as the Großer Deutsch-Test on RTL . He has headed the Duden editorial team since 2010. In the same year “he was elected to the entire board of GfdS.” His main focus was on spelling and language advice. At the turn of the year 2016 he retired after 35 years of activity, and Kathrin Kunkel-Razum took over the management of the Duden editorial team. He was also a member of the Council for German Spelling .
