Kathrin Kunkel-Razum

Kathrin Kunkel-Razum (born 1959 in Potsdam ) is a German German philologist and has been editor-in-chief of Dudens since 2016 .

Life

Kathrin Kunkel-Razum grew up in Potsdam . She studied German and history at the University of Leipzig , where she did her doctorate under Wolfgang Fleischer in the field of German phraseology . From 1986 she was editor and until 1990 deputy editor-in-chief of the Zeitschrift für Germanistik . She also worked as a lecturer and lecturer for German at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid . From 1997 to 1999 she worked as an editor in the Duden editorial office in Mannheim and has been a member of the Scientific Council of Dudens since 1999. In January 2016 she took over the management of the Duden editorial team, which is responsible for the entire dictionary and grammar program. It replaced Werner Scholze-Stubenrecht . She is a member of the German Spelling Council , which publishes spelling recommendations for government institutions.

She became known to a broader public through interviews in the press about the state of the German language and, in particular, about the inclusion of gender-equitable spelling in German spelling.

Kathrin Kunkel-Razum is married, has a grown son and lives in Berlin.
