The corset or corset (of altfrz . CORS "body") is an upper body closely surrounds, strapless Shapewear garment. Integrated spiral spring bars stiffen them so that no straps are necessary. The stiffener also replaces the bra .

In contrast to the corset , the corsage is less stiff and therefore not suitable for shaping the body.

It comes in three varieties:

  • As the top of a cocktail dress (sewn to the skirt)
  • As a standalone item of clothing that can be worn as going out clothes with a skirt or trousers
  • As lingerie , d. H. in contrast to the previous ones, not to be worn as outer clothing. Often fitted with suspenders .
