Corybants

Korybanten ( Greek  Κορύβαντες ) are vegetation demons and orgiastic ritual dancers who accompany the goddess Cybele (also Magna Mater in the Roman Empire ). They come from Greek mythology and can be traced back to the Anatolian Empire of the Indo-European Phrygians (there Berekyndai ). Later the priests from the 3rd and 4th centuries BC were also used in the same way. BC, who paid homage to the Cybele with weapon dances, wild music, drinking bouts and orgiastic debauchery. Corybantic dances were danced by the gymnasts among others .
