The Kruckel power plant was a steam power plant in Dortmund- Kruckel for generating electricity from hard coal for the public energy supply.

The construction of the power plant was started in 1905 as "Centrale II" of the Rheinisch-Westfälische Elektrizitätswerke AG (RWE) on the site of the United Wiendahlsbank colliery in Dortmund-Kruckel, it was supposed to burn the coal extracted from this colliery. After a sale, the power plant was put into operation in 1908 by the Westfälische Verbands-Elektrizitätswerk (WVE), which came into operation in 1923 to the Dortmunder und Verbands-Elektrizitätswerk GmbH , which in 1925 was in turn merged into the newly founded Vereinigte Elektrizitätswerke Westfalen GmbH (AG since 1930) . The power plant was connected to the high-voltage network in 1927 with a 110-kilovolt overhead line. But as early as 1930 the now obsolete power plant was shut down and in 1931 shut down until further notice. In the last weeks of the war in 1945, the power station was badly damaged.

The power plant has been expanded and rebuilt several times over the years. After the final shutdown, the buildings were demolished, today only one RWE substation is evidence of this historic power station location.
