Tuckum district

The Tuckum District was a district in the Courland Governorate in the Russian Empire .

The Tuckum district bordered the Gulf of Riga and the Livonia Governorate in the north, the Doblen district in the east, the Kovno governorate in the south, the Goldingen district in the west and the Talsen district in the northwest .

The district of Tuckum existed from 1819 with interruptions until 1949 in the Courland Governorate .

During the First World War it was conquered by the German Army . Part of Upper East . From March 3 to September 22, 1918 he was part of the Duchy of Courland and Semgallia afterwards of the United Baltic Duchy .

In 1924 the districts were restructured. During the occupation by the German Reich, it was placed under the Reichskommissariat Ostland . The territory of Latvia was administered as the General District of Latvia . The circles have been combined into larger circles. Tuckum became part of the enlarged Mitau district.

As part of the Latvian SSR , the district was first one of 19. The 19 districts were dissolved on December 31, 1949 and divided into 58 Rajons. On August 1, 1961, 32 Rajons were formed.
