The Tecklenburg district house was the seat of the district administration of the Tecklenburg district until the regional reform in 1975 . Today the building houses a branch of the district administration of the Steinfurt district with all tasks that require regular local citizen contact. The focus of these citizen-oriented tasks is on the Tecklenburger Land region .

location

The district building is located at Landrat-Schultz-Straße 1 at the entrance to Tecklenburg's old town. It can be reached with the bus line R45 ( Ibbenbüren <> Tecklenburg <> Lengerich ) via the stop Tecklenburg, city of public transport .

The district building consists of a total of three construction phases. A new administration building was built on the original site of the former district office in the 1930s. With the tasks of the district administration that had grown at that time, an extension followed in the 1950s, which now houses the vehicle registration office, among other things. This old part covers a total area of 3078.82 m². In order to meet the requirements of the registration office of today, a fundamental renovation of these rooms in the Tecklenburg district building took place in spring 2013. This means that an expanded waiting area and a redesigned area for citizen service will be available in the future.

A new building with 4661.12 m², which was modern at the time, was built in the 1960s on the existing building complex in a skeleton construction. The building has two basement floors, half of which are below ground level due to the hillside location. The outer shell was renovated in 1997 as a curtain wall made of glass and aluminum. A special feature is the so-called air floor of the building, which allows an unobstructed view of the old town of Tecklenburg.

The current use of the representative rooms of the district house from the time of the old district of Tecklenburg is functional. The former large meeting room of the district council, in which today a photo gallery of the district administrators of the Tecklenburg district creates a historical reference, serves as a conference room. The former district administration's room is now an office. There are concrete plans to use the building jointly by the Steinfurt district administration and the Tecklenburg city administration. For both facilities, there would be considerable savings potential through joint building management and the use of a common building infrastructure.

Responsibilities

After the implementation, a total of around 120 employees will remain at the Tecklenburg site. The location concept also provides for a branch of the health department for the Tecklenburger Land region to be set up in the Tecklenburg district. These are the tasks:

Art and craft exhibitions are also held regularly in the foyer of the Tecklenburger district building.
