The Hueso sacro (sacrum) of Tequixquiac

The sacrum of Tequixquiac ( Hueso sacro de Tequixquiac in Spanish ) is a large monolithic sculpture from the Tequixquiac Stone Age in Mexico . The piece is known as a masterpiece of the American continent.

Archaeological finds show that the area was settled 35,000 years ago by immigrants who had come from Asia via the Bering Strait. The Tequixquiac sacrum was carved from the bone of an extinct species of camel about 22,000 years ago. It was discovered in 1870.
