The Kreuzkirche is a Protestant church in Dortmund 's Berghofen district , Fasanenweg 18. It is the church of the Berghofen Protestant parish, which belongs to the Evangelical Church of Westphalia .

The church is under monument protection , it is entered in the list of architectural monuments of the city district of Aplerbeck .

Until 1895 the evangelical Christians of Berghofen belonged to the Georgsgemeinde in Aplerbeck . A third pastoral office for the Berghof Christians was set up there in 1872, and services were held in a chapel in Berghofen since 1890. After the Berghof community became independent in 1895, the desire for its own church grew. Finally, in 1929, the Kreuzkirche was built to designs by the architect L. Behrens.

The church has facades made of sandstone and is stylistically classified between Expressionism (with echoes of Gothic forms) and New Building . In 1967 there was a renovation and in 1991/1992 a renovation by the architectural office of Lothar Kallmeyer and Wolfgang Herbst.

The motifs of their windows depict scenes from the New Testament . A window known as the "Bethlehem window" begins the sequence of scenes on the right-hand side in the back of the church, followed by windows on Good Friday , Easter and Ascension Day . These depictions end with four pointed arched windows at Pentecost .
