Laxenburg cross sister monastery
The Kreuzschwesternkloster Laxenburg is a Roman Catholic monastery of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross in Laxenburg in Lower Austria.
The Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross (Cross Sisters) acquired the former Palais Kaunitz-Wittgenstein in 1935 . The former Palais Schwarzenberg and the inn "Zum Stern" also belong to the building complex.
In 1958 and 1959 Ladislaus Hruska built the monastery chapel (Holy Trinity). Most of the furnishings come from the sculptor Josef Pabst . In 1980 the monastery was renovated and the roof expanded. The monastery is the headquarters (provincial house) for the province of Vienna-Lower Austria.
Until 1988 there was a school for the training of kindergarten teachers, as well as a housekeeping school, and also a secondary school with boarding school in the buildings. One part houses an old people's and nursing home (built 1970–1972), while a meditation and community center ("center of the city") was operated in the old palace. The former Ox Foundation in Hinterbrühl with a children's home and elementary school also belonged to the religious house . The Haus Elisabeth retirement home right next to the monastery is also subordinate to the Cross Sisters Monastery.
Parts of the monastery have been used by the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA) since 2011 .
An agricultural estate also belonged to the monastery.
