The Calvary ( " Lo Spasimo di Sicilia "), today in the Museo del Prado in Madrid is a created around 1514-1517 painting by Raphael and his workshop to Calvary . Originally painted in oil on wood, it was transferred to canvas in the early 19th century.
history
On behalf of Giacomo Basilico, Raffael painted the picture for the church of the Olivetan monastery of Santa Maria dello Spasimo in Palermo .
