War Memorial Cross 1992–1995

The War Memorial Cross 1992–1995 ( Croatian Ratni spomen križ 1992. – 1995 ) was an award of the Croatian Republic of Herceg-Bosna .

The Order of Military Merit was established in accordance with the “Law on Service in the Armed Forces of the Croatian Republic of Herceg-Bosna”, through the “Order on the Award of Medals ” ( Pravilnik o dodjeli odličja ).

The war memorial cross could be awarded to all ranks of the armed forces of the Croatian Republic of Herceg-Bosna, who had made a contribution to the establishment of their first “professional” military units (especially the motorized guard brigade “ Ante Bruno Bušić ”) during the Bosnian war . An award to private individuals was possible if the award criteria were met.

A total of 1,050 pieces of all award levels were produced, of which only 104 were awarded. For the sake of quality and better competition, the award was made in Italy .

The award was given in three stages ( stupnja = degree).

  • I. level of the war memorial cross without decoration
    (number of items produced: 500. Awards: 21.)
  • Second stage of the war memorial cross with palm branch and sword
    (number of items produced: 500. Awards: 50.)
  • III. Level of the war memorial cross with palm branch and sword on star
    (Number of items produced: 50. Awards: 33.)

Back of the 1st stage

The first stage shows the basic design of the award, a gold-colored metal cross made of Croatian wickerwork ("Croatian cross"). The colorful enameled coat of arms of the Croatian Republic of Herceg-Bosna is placed on the center of the cross .

The second level shows behind the "Croatian Cross", in addition behind and crossed a palm branch and a sword.

The III. Stage shows the execution of the second stage, resting on a radial ornament, similar to a breast star .

On the back of the award, for all levels, the horizontal three-line engraving 1992-95 / RATNI SPOMEN KRIŽ / HRVATSKE REPUBLIKE HERCEG-BOSNE and underneath the respective item number.

Carrying method

All steps were worn as a cross on the chest.
