The Esbjerg war cemetery is located in the Kirkegaard Fourfeld Gravlund municipal cemetery, Gravlundvej in Esbjerg , Denmark . Allied soldiers and German soldiers from the time of the Second World War and refugees from the end of the war and the post-war period are buried here in three grave fields .

From the port area northwards towards Fovrfelt and Hjerting on Hjertingvej. Gravlundvej turns right. The cemetery is on the right side of Gravlundvej.

The dead

Esbjerg War Cemetery: Graves of Commonwealth soldiers

272 Allied soldiers of the Second World War rest here in one part. The 1150 soldiers who died in German hospitals were buried in the adjacent area. 151 refugees who died in 1945 and thereafter were buried here in Section B, Block 02. These included refugee children who died of exhaustion. The graves are marked by crosses made of natural stone. The names of two deceased are listed on each page. The names of the Allied soldiers buried in Esbjerg were digitally documented. Likewise the names of the German refugees and soldiers.
