War Merit Cross for Women and Virgins (Braunschweig)

The War Merit Cross for women and virgins was donated by Duke Ernst August von Braunschweig on September 13, 1917 as a reward for services to the war .

The medal is a bronze cross. On the arms of the cross it says, from top to bottom, for self-sacrificing service in war . On the reverse in the middle the year 1914 . Between the arms of the cross a circular hoop interrupted by them. It alternates between the intertwined initials EA (Ernst August) and VL ( Viktoria Luise ). The four parts of the circlet are surmounted by a plastic princely crown.

The award was worn as a ribbon on a sulfur-yellow ribbon with two dark blue border and a central stripe.
