Kristian Thulesen Dahl (born July 30, 1969 in Brædstrup ) is a Danish politician of the Dansk Folkeparti .

Life

Dahl was born in Brædstrup as the son of a teacher couple. From 1976 to 1985 Dahl attended the Nørre Snede Centralskole, then until 1988 the Tørring Gymnasium. From 1988 to 1989 he did his military service. Dahl studied law at Aalborg University . Dahl is married and has three children. His older brother Jacob is the director of the Skanderborg Gymnasium .

From 1985 to 1995 Dahl was a member of the Fremskridtspartiet party . In the same year he joined the Dansk Folkeparti. Dahl has been a member of the Folketing since 1994 . In September 2012, Dahl took over the chairmanship of the Dansk Folkeparti as the successor to Pia Kjærsgaard . He is considered a good speaker . Under his leadership, the party switched from a strictly anti-European course to a populist EU- skeptical line. The parliamentary election in Denmark in June 2015 was the first of the Folkeparti under his leadership and the most successful to date with 21.1% of the vote.
