Crown locking system

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crown protection systems are used in tree care to secure branches from breaking out. In the past, only steel ropes were used that were firmly anchored in the wood with threaded rods. Today, synthetic fiber ropes are mainly used, which are led around the branches and thus avoid damaging the tree. Crown securing systems have to absorb the wind loads that a branch may no longer be able to absorb due to damage. It is disputed whether crown securing systems have to be dimensioned in such a way that they can also catch branches that break out.
