The Krupp Avenue is a street in the Kiel district Elmschenhagen .

history

In March 1906, seven engineers and two office managers from Friedrich Krupp AG / Germaniawerft in Kiel bought Koppel Kiefkamp and founded the Elmschenhagen villa colony company for the purpose of converting the property into villa building sites. The paddock was bordered by Bahnhofstrasse (from 1939 Elmschenhagener Allee) and the access road to the brickworks. The Kruppallee, which led from Bahnhofstrasse to what was then Ziegeleiweg, was rebuilt. It was initially a private route and could only be given to the community after years of negotiations. In the course of the negotiations in 1910 the road was closed to general traffic at Kruppallee 3 with a barrier. Kruppallee has been a public street since 1915.

Several villas were built on Kruppallee up to the First World War . Villa Kruppallee was destroyed by bombs in World War II. The station hotel on the opposite side at the entrance to Kruppallee was demolished around 1970, otherwise the old houses have been preserved. After the Second World War, new houses were built on the undeveloped land. For the properties in the area of the former villa colony Elmschenhagen, restrictive regulations have been in effect since it was founded. Here is the original text of a land register:

“In favor of the parcels 86/45 to 114/45 of the map sheet 4 of the Elmschenhagen district no other building such as a country house may be built. Such a house must not contain more than one ground floor, one floor and one attic. There may not be more than two apartments in the same. These apartments must not contain less than three rooms, a kitchen and accessories. No more than such a house may be built on the property. Furthermore, no commercial, industrial or other facilities may be built on the property that contradict the nature of a villa colony. "

In this way, the development was able to retain its character as a residential area for more than 100 years.
