Cuckoo Polka

The Kuckuckspolka is a traditional dance that originated in Galicia and was handed down in Styria .

The ethnologist Karl Horak (1908–1992) recorded this dance in 1931 in a German village in Galicia. It is a lively dance in two-four time . The dance belongs to the " Rhinelander forms ". In addition to the alternating step, the hallmark is a special dance posture (Rhinelander capture), in which dancers stand behind one another, look in the direction of the dance and hold their hands over their shoulders.
