Theta Ursae Majoris , θ Ursae Majoris or θ UMa (also 25 UMa ) is a star in the constellation Great Bear with an apparent magnitude of about 3.2 mag and barely 44 light years away. It belongs to the spectral class F, presumably represents a spectroscopic binary star , and has a companion of the spectral class M only 13.8 mag bright at a distance of 4.1 arc seconds .
Together with other stars of the constellation Ursa Major - τ , h , υ , φ , e and f Ursae Maioris - θ UMa forms an asterism known in Arabic as sarīr banāt al-na'sh and al-haud and is therefore occasionally also Alhaud V or called Sarir .
