Ball socket

A ball socket is in mechanical engineering part of the ball joint - storage . The ball socket accommodates the spherical joint head . The ball is enclosed by the ball socket so far that only rotary movements are possible.

Ball sockets are used in vehicle steering systems and trailer hitches, among other things .
