Cultures

Cultures is an open-air museum in the southern Swedish city ​​of Lund . It was founded in 1892 by Georg Fredrik Johansson Karlin (1859–1939).

Karlin recognized the disappearance of the old agrarian society and wanted to preserve its buildings, tools, furniture and clothing for the future. His work resulted in an extensive and unique collection of more than two million unique pieces. Cultures is the second oldest open-air museum in the world after Skansen, which was founded in Stockholm in 1891 . Karlin was director of the museum until 1933.
