Kumiko Okae

Kumiko Okae (born August 23, 1956 - April 23, 2020 in Tokyo ) was a Japanese actress and voice actress .

In 1975 she made her debut as an actress in the lead role of the TBS series Omitsu . Numerous live-action series followed, such as Ten Made Todoke . She worked as a co-presenter on the information program Hanamaru Market and as a voice actress on various anime . In “The Dog from Flanders” (Furandāsu no inu) she spoke the role of Elina, in the Ghibli production “ The Kingdom of Cats ” the mother of the main character Haru and in the Pokémon film “Lucario and the Secret of Mew” the policewoman Junsā (Officer Rocky ).

Okae died on April 23, 2020 of pneumonia caused by a SARS-CoV-2 infection. She had already had radiation therapy in January and February after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She developed a fever on April 3rd and was taken to hospital on April 6th, where she died.
