Art paper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Picture printing papers (also known as art paper ) are all coated papers from 70 to 170 g / m². From 170 to 300 g / m² one speaks of picture printing board. Art paper can be coated in a matte, semi-gloss or glossy finish. It is suitable for all printing processes .

It is particularly suitable for printing with pictures, as it does not absorb the printing ink well, which means that the contours and color delimitations (halftones) are more precise. This can best be seen by comparing a photo in a glossy magazine with a photo in a daily newspaper. The photo in the glossy magazine will always look much better than the one in the daily newspaper - even if it was printed on exactly the same printing machine .
