Kunsthaus Interlaken
The Kunsthaus Interlaken is a center for art and culture in the eastern Bernese Oberland in Interlaken , Switzerland .
Exhibitions
The exhibition program includes solo and group exhibitions by Swiss artists with a national presence as well as international contemporary art positions and collections.
Art education
In addition to the exhibitions, the Kunsthaus offers an educational program with guided tours, artist talks and performances. The museum education includes thematic workshops for schools and for adults.
Concerts
There is a concert hall on the ground floor of the Kunsthaus. The program of events includes regular jazz concerts, a cabaret program as well as performance art and master classes by international musicians during the Interlaken Classics Festival .
history
The Kunsthaus opened in 2009. For the needs of the exhibition and culture industry, a new building was built in a central location, which architecturally integrates the listed “Old Office House”. The creation of the Kunsthaus was initiated by the «Art Society Interlaken», founded in 1944. The representative building is located in the center of Interlaken on Hanery Amman - and Polo Hofer -Platz, which was created as a homage to the Swiss music pioneers at the same time as the new building of the Kunsthaus.
Art collection
The collection of the Kunsthaus is constantly expanding and focuses on works and artists related to the Bernese Oberland. The collections of the “Kunstgesellschaft Interlaken” and the “China Collection Dr. Rieder »are also housed in the Kunsthaus Interlaken.
