Exercise of the Steigerkorps at the domed gymnasium in 1899

The domed gymnasium was a gymnasium and town hall in Ravensburg .

The hall, built in 1878 on the Kuppelnau in half-timbered construction, served u. a. the agricultural district exhibition and 1961 the Oberschwabenschau as exhibition space. From 1881 to 1897 it was the venue for the Rod Theater . The built-on so-called Steigerturm served the Steigercorps of the fire brigade as a training object around the turn of the century.

Due to the distance from the existing schools in Ravensburg and the poor overall condition of the hall, it was demolished in July 1973. A primary and secondary school with a new gymnasium was then built on the site.

The old domed gymnasium served as a template for the 2012 rod festival badge .
