The Kuratorium für Elektrotechnik (KFE) in Vienna ( Austria ) is a non-profit-oriented, non-political association that is run according to economic criteria as a service organization for the electrical engineering trade and its field of activity extends across the entire federal territory of Austria.

The association has over 250 members.

The strategic goal of the KFE is to achieve added value for its members. In order to implement this, the KFE also cooperates closely with political decision-makers, social partners and business enterprises. The KFE also offers a discussion and work platform for science, consulting, administration, industry and practice. For the benefit of its members, the KFE assesses new technologies and describes the state of the art and defines good electrical engineering practice.

Purpose / tasks

The purpose of the Board of Trustees is, in accordance with Section 2 of the Articles of Association, in accordance with Austrian, European and international legal provisions, guidelines, standards and normative documents (selection):

  • promoting the quality and performance of electrical engineering systems;
  • arranging for the inspection of electrotechnical and electronic systems and devices with regard to their technical and quality design in the interests of businesspeople and consumers;
  • the fight against unauthorized trade;
  • the promotion of technical and economic knowledge of relevant people through the organization and implementation of training measures;
  • the development and processing of economic requirements in connection with the manufacture of electrical engineering systems,
  • the organization and implementation of actions with regard to joint PR, advertising and purchasing measures.
  • the organization and implementation of excursions, study and social trips,
  • the activity as a certification and qualification body with the purpose of confirming and certifying the ability and quality of people and companies on the basis of European and international standards and normative documents,
  • the implementation of legally required inspections of technical facilities, apparatus and fittings,
  • the development of and participation in the creation of technical rules, standards and provisions as well as their promotion and dissemination,
  • Membership in other associations and institutions that pursue the same or similar purposes, also through the creation of joint functional and organizational facilities.

Further training for the members

The KFE annually organizes seminars, workshops, courses, study trips and the like with participants from all over Austria. Seminars, workshops, courses etc. mainly take place in Vienna.

organization

The organs of the KFE are according to § 8 of the statutes:

  • the general assembly,
  • the board,
  • the auditors,
  • the arbitral tribunal.

General Assembly

The ordinary general assembly takes place once a year in accordance with Section 9 of the Articles of Association.

The following are reserved for the General Assembly:

  • the election of the board and two auditors,
  • the determination of the membership fee and membership fees,
  • changing the statutes,
  • the dissolution of the board of trustees,
  • the admission of honorary members as well as the withdrawal of their membership.

Board

According to § 10 of the statutes, the KFE board consists of at least six, but no more than twelve members, who are elected by the general assembly for a period of 5 years.

The board elects the presidium.

Furthermore, the board of directors appoints the secretary, his deputy, the treasurer and his deputy as well as the chairpersons of the units or advisory boards.

Bureau

The Presidium consists of three members. Karl Habermann has been President for many years and is represented by Thomas Maderbacher as Vice President. The executive president is Christian Bräuer.

Auditor

The auditors are appointed by the General Assembly for a period of five years in accordance with Section 13 of the Articles of Association.

Arbitration board

The arbitral tribunal decides in accordance with § 14 of the statutes in all disputes arising from the relationship to the board of trustees between the board of directors and the individual members as well as between the latter among themselves.

Fund raising

The necessary financial resources are provided in accordance with Section 3 of the Articles of Association by

  • Membership fees;
  • voluntary donations, subsidies, grants;
  • Examination and certification contributions (fees);
  • Fees and remuneration for events, publications and
  • other services provided by the Board of Trustees.

Accreditation

The Board of Trustees for Electrical Engineering received the accreditation as a body, the products (according to ÖNORM EN 45011) and personnel (according to ÖVE / ÖNORM EN ISO / IEC 17024) certified by ordinance of the Federal Minister for Economy, Family and Youth on the basis of § 17 para. 1 of the Accreditation Act.

The certification authority for products includes:

  • Fire alarm systems - construction and operation,
  • Qualification of electrical installation companies;

The certification authority for personnel includes the certification of KFE technicians for electrical engineering.

As media owner and editor, the KFE publishes the communications of the Board of Trustees for Electrical Engineering . The responsible editor is Ernst Matzke.

The general orientation of the publication organ ( editorial ) is to represent the technical and economic interests of electrical engineers. The communications of the Board of Trustees for Electrical Engineering also serve to inform readers about the facts and opinions that are important for the management of a company in economic, socio-political, legal and technical terms .

AV news

AV-News is the official organ of the federal professional group of communication electronics within the KFE (as editor and publisher). Martin Karall is the responsible editor. The editorial team is headed by Ernst Matzke.

The general orientation of the publication organ ( editorial ) is to represent the technical and economic interests of electrical engineers and communications electronics engineers and the medium is used to inform readers about the facts and opinions that are important for the management of a company in economic, socio-political, legal and technical terms .
