Editorial policy

The editorial policy is a term from Austrian media law and, according to the legal definition in Section 25 (4) of the Media Act, denotes the fundamental direction of a periodical print .

The guidelines describe the political and ideological orientation of a newspaper or magazine and must be published by the media owner in the imprint . It is determined by the publisher and stipulated with the editors in a statute through a company agreement.

In the Federal Republic of Germany the term tendency protection is common.

Section 14 (8) of the ORF Act stipulates that television advertising for periodical printed works may refer to the title and the editorial, but not to their content.
