The nature reserve Quellsumpf Ziegensteine ​​near Groß Stresow is a nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and part of the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve . It covers an area of ​​five hectares and extends in an elongated shape east of the town of Klein-Stresow . The eponymous place Groß Stresow is located two kilometers to the west. The goat stones are a large stone grave on the eastern edge of the area. To the north are the Stresower firs used for forestry. The expulsion took place on September 12, 1990. The protection goal is to preserve a spring swamp. A brook up to one meter wide and 30 centimeters deep flows through the area.

The condition of the nature reserve is classified as good, as largely undisturbed development is assured. A hiking trail to the goat stones grazes the northern part so that you can look inside.

history

The Stresower fir trees in the north were created as a ground moraine surface during the last Ice Age . These were covered with sand and used for centuries for forestry purposes. The spring swamps to the south were created because part of the aquifer was covered. As a result, seepage springs appear in several places that flow into the stream. Over time, the springs moor and spring bogs formed.

Human settlement has been documented by the goat stones since the Stone Age . The original table sheet shows the swamp in its current size. The eastern part was subject to arable use at that time. Coniferous forests were created. In the direction of the Rügischer Bodden there was a flow moor .

Flora and fauna

Most of the nature reserve consists of an alder forest. Ash , mountain ash , hazel and hawthorn can be found scattered . Species worth highlighting are foam herb , swamp sedge and brook avens . Spring swamps are available throughout the nature reserve, where swamp forget-me-nots , water mint , marsh horsetail , watercress , bitter foam herb , berle and water intestine grow. In the northern part of the reserve there is a mixed forest of beech , hornbeam , English oak , birch , pine and ash. River shrimp live in the stream . As amphibians are garlic and common toad , marsh , grass , foliage and edible frog before, still pond and great crested newt .
