The Langes Moor nature reserve is a nature reserve in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . It covers an area of ​​72 hectares and is located on the Schaabe on the island of Rügen five kilometers northwest of Glowe . The areas border directly on the Great Jasmunder Bodden . The designation took place on November 5, 1990. The state of the area is classified as good, as development is largely undisturbed. The nature reserve is part of the FFH area Nordrügensche Boddenlandschaft .

A hiking trail leads along the shores of the Bodden, providing a glimpse into the nature reserve.

The Schaabe was created as a spit hook with reefs (beach wall), bar (depression between two beach walls) and dunes after the sea level rise of the Littorina transgression . The Long Moor consists of a large group one kilometer long and 100 meters wide. The group became boggy with changing water levels and peat formation began. Currently, a peat thickness of an average of one meter is achieved in the swamp bog.

Human settlement has been documented since the Stone Age . Wittower farmers used the areas as a hut forest and as heather . Cattle were herded along the way along the Bodden. From the 1850s the Schaabe was afforested with pine trees . An attempt was made to establish forest use in the Long Moor by means of a trench system.

Flora and fauna

Reeds , reeds and floodplains can be found in the area. Typical plant species are reeds , rush edible , common frog spoon , narrow-leaved Merk , stiff sedge , bank wolfstrapp , common loosestrife , bladder sedge , narrow-leaved cottongrass , bog bedstraw , fever clover and swamp blood-eye . On the edge of the moor there is heather vegetation with crowberry , heather and pipe grass . Am Bodden shore small areas occur Sand lean lawn with sand sedge and thrift on. Chickweed occurs directly on the bank of the Bodden. The shallow water areas belonging to the nature reserve are covered by salde and crested pondweed .

Breeding birds in the area are buzzard , red kite , marsh harrier , common raven , black and small woodpecker . The white-tailed eagle uses the areas as a feeding habitat. The Herpetenfauna is determined by adder , grass snake , slow worm , as well as jumping , grass and moor frog .
