Cuxhaven spa gardens
The spa gardens in Cuxhaven - Döse , Strandstrasse 80, are located behind the North Sea dike to Grimmershörnbucht, east of Strandstrasse near Fort Kugelbake .
history
The construction of a spa park for the North Sea spa in Cuxhaven was decided in 1935 and carried out by 1936. During a hurricane in 1936, the foyer collapsed and injured people seeking protection. In 1937 a more stable hall was inaugurated. Seal basin and sea bird meadow were created in 1937.
In 1954 the Society of Friends of the Kurpark was founded . The number of animals increased and new enclosures were created. The Kurparkhalle next to the open-air stage was completed in 1966. The thatched house burned down on New Year's Eve 2014/2015.
The fountain courtyard and a new walking and reclining hall were built in 1968 in the west of the spa park. The new Kugelbakehalle for larger cultural events was built by 1983 . Until 2018, the Kurparkfest took place regularly about 30 times .
