Memorial at Oberanger in Munich, inaugurated in 2011

The Kurt Eisner Memorial at Oberanger is a glass sculpture in Munich in memory of the first Bavarian Prime Minister Kurt Eisner .

It was designed by Rotraut Fischer and inaugurated on May 30, 2011 on Oberanger. Along with the commemorative plaque on Kardinal-Faulhaber-Strasse, it is the second memorial for the murdered Eisner in Munich.

A quote from the appeal with which Kurt Eisner proclaimed the Free State of Bavaria was selected as the inscription: "Every human life should be sacred". At night the panes are illuminated in such a way that the writing stands out.

Other inscriptions are:

  • Peace politician - democratic socialist and first prime minister
  • Kurt Eisner - born in Berlin in 1867 / murdered in Munich in 1919
