Kurt Richter (musician)
Kurt Richter (born March 28, 1907 in Berlin ; † May 12, 1984 in East Berlin ) was a well-known entertainment musician in the 1930s.
He worked as a tenor together with Johnny Schulz (tenor), Fritz Löwenstein (bass) and Paul Meier (baritone), initially as a street musician in Wedding. The four called themselves from 1931 The four Wedding Boys . They were successful on the radio and the first records were made with them.
In 1933 Richter had to rename the group to Die vier Richters . The artistic line-up changed several times. The group had success on stage, in funk, on record, and in film. The focus of the repertoire was in the area of German folk songs.
At times Richter also produced music under the name of Richter the 4 vocal guitarists or Richter's duet , sang together with others, e.g. B. with Kate Kühl and also called himself Kurt Velten as a refrain singer .
When the war began in 1939, the group had to split up. Richter's attempts to found a vocal group again after 1945 were unsuccessful. He joined various bands and orchestras as a musician.
In 2011 some tracks were re-released on CD, including Aunt Anna from The Four Wedding Boys from 1933, a piece of blooming nonsense that would not have been tolerated a short time later.
