Spa Theater (Kyselka)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Kurtheater ( Czech Lázeňske divadlo ) is a theater in the southern part of Kyselka (German Gießhübl-Sauerbrunn ) in the Czech Republic. It has been a listed building since 2014 and, next to the source temple, is the highest building in the former spa town.

history

The building was built at the end of the 19th century in neoclassical style and served as a filling station for the water from the Otto spring , to which a funicular railway also led to transport the bottles. After the spring temple was built, it was connected to it. The building later served as a theater until 1934/35. After that it was used as a cinema until 1939. In 1940 it was reopened for the presentation of the German newsreel . Nevertheless, the building deteriorated increasingly. In the post-war period, the theater was renovated as such and was spared the evacuation of the site in 1960. Instead, plays for the Czechoslovak soldiers were performed in the theater. In 1972 the theater was closed. It has been renovated since 2014.
