Close coupling

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Close coupling stands for:

  • Close coupling (railway) : A connection between two railway vehicles that differs from the conventional coupling.
  • Close coupling (model railway) : enables prototypical driving "buffer-to-buffer" on straight sections of the model railway system. In curves, it allows the vehicle distance to be increased so that you can drive through them without any problems.
  • HVDC close coupling (electrical power engineering): A high-voltage direct current transmission (HVDC) over a very short distance.
