William Cowley
William Ambrosia Cowley or William Ambrose Cowley was an English buccaneer (pirate) of the 17th century who explored the Galápagos Islands while circumnavigating the world and published the first map in 1684. He also named some islands after members of the British royal family or after professional colleagues. In his diary he also describes the discovery of the mythical island of Pepys , said to be north of the Falkland Islands , which prompted a number of sailors to look in the void for nonexistent land.
