Short-wave radiation balance

The short-wave radiation balance describes the gain or loss of short-wave radiation (wavelength ranges between 290 nm and 3500 nm), which mainly includes UV radiation , visible light and radiation in the near infrared .

This short-wave radiation balance alone on the differences of radiation and albedo , the reflectivity of the earth's surface ( ground reflected radiation ) dependent. This reveals the seasonal fluctuations in irradiation as well as the change in albedo over the year. Because 100% of the radiation is assigned to the reflection, the short-wave balance is always positive and therefore always associated with a gain in radiation . Their maximum intensity is 0.5 µm.
