Kushikatsu ( Japanese 串 カ ツ ) are Japanese skewers from the Kansai region ( Osaka and the surrounding area). They are available in numerous variations, for example with meat or seafood that is skewered on bamboo skewers, breaded and then fried.
The breading is usually done with panko , the type of breadcrumbs used in Japan.
