Kviteseid Bygdetun is one of the oldest open-air museums in Norway and has existed since 1907. The museum is right next to the old church of Kviteseid . This area above the Kviteseidvatn has many signs of early development and a market place at a point, meet at the waterway and valley floor. The museum is located on Rv41 at the point where it goes up over Kviteseidkleivan to Vrådal and about 7 kilometers from the center of Kviteseid.

The museum consists of twelve buildings that were brought together from various farms in the area during the 20th century. In 1979 an exhibition and information hall named Utsondhalli was built. It was built with the intention of having its own exhibition for the sculptures by Gunnar Utsond, which were donated to the Kviteseid community and the museum a few years earlier. The hall was later used for guest exhibitions.

The old church of Kviteseid is a stone church and was built around 1260. It is located in a depression right next to the museum and is now part of the museum.

The museum is open every day except Mondays during the summer months and there are many events and activities during the summer. Nowadays it belongs to the municipality of Kviteseid and is administered by them. The museum is also part of the Vest-Telemark Museum Foundation.
