Kweku Essien (born December 12, 1984 in Kumasi ) is a Ghanaian soccer player who was part of the second division squad of VfL Osnabrück in the 2007/08 season .
Career
On January 17, 2008, both sides terminated the contract. After stints at the Ghanaian clubs FC Maamobi and Hearts of Oak , he has been playing for the Israeli club FC Ashdod since August 2008 . In April 2009 he returned to Ghana and signed with Sekondi Wise Fighters. He moved to Essien in January 2011 to Brong Ahafo Stars and in September of the same year, he signed with the Ghana Premier League promoted Wassaman United .
Before moving to Osnabrück, Essien played for King Faisal Babes in the Ghanaian Premier League and was voted the most valuable player of the 2006/07 season. For the national team of Ghana he has so far completed two internationals and several junior internationals. In the run-up to the 2007/08 season, a move to Hertha BSC only just failed .
