Cyaxares I. ( Medo Ḫavachštra , Elamite Šattarrida , Assyrian Kaštarita , Babylonian Hašatritti ) was the founder and first king of the Median tribal alliance.

He is also equated with the Mannai king Deiokes (Assyrian Daiukku ), who rose from judge to king. This allied in 716 BC. In the war against Sargon II. With the Kingdom of Urartu , was captured and 715 BC. Banished by Sargon II to Hama , Syria .
