history

The Kyiv Post was first published in September 1995 (at the time by KP Media ). The founder was the American Jed Sunden, who was then working in Ukraine. Today the newspaper covers the topics politics, economy and entertainment, the editorial team consists of western as well as Ukrainian journalists. The newspaper often conducted investigative journalism, including reports of the murder of journalist Georgi Gongadze , the Orange Revolution and corruption in Ukrainian politics.

Since 2010, articles in Ukrainian and Russian have been available on the Kyiv Post website in order to reach a larger audience in Ukraine.

In July 2009 KP Media, run by founder Jed Sunden, sold the Kyiv Post to the Pakistani-British entrepreneur Mohammad Zahoor. Zahoor worked as an entrepreneur in the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk . Since then, the Kyiv Post has been published by Zahoor's own publishing house.

On April 15, 2011, the editor-in-chief Brian Bonner was sacked after the newspaper published an interview with the Ukrainian Minister of Agriculture Mykola Prysjaschnjuk against the publisher's wishes. However, after an editorial strike, Bonner was reinstated in his old post just five days later.
