Kynopolis (Lower Egypt)
Kynopolis , also Kynopolites , was the ancient Greek name of an ancient Egyptian city. The Greek name was κυνῶν πολις - city of dogs . The place was on the west bank of the Nile arm of Damiette , south of Abusir (today Banā ). In Christian times the place was a bishopric.
